Lancaster County, PA– Lititz Chooses Love, a grassroots movement fueled by the belief that love is love, is thrilled to announce their new name, Lancaster County Chooses Love, and is poised to expand their services to the greater Lancaster County area.

This trans-led, 501(c)3 organization that addresses the growing need for direct services across the county is rebranding to show its commitment to advocating for LGBTQ+ individuals within the community by creating safe social spaces and connecting community members with local resources.

“Although we started in and were supported by the Lititz community, we found that the need for safe spaces and connecting community members with local resources expanded across Lancaster County” said Laura Sabatini, Director of Development and Operations. “While we still plan to hold our annual Pride Festival in Lititz, we changed our name to Lancaster County Chooses Love to make sure that all people who need support know they can turn to us,” she added.

In addition to a new name, the organization recently opened at a new location, 104-106 East Main Street in Lititz.

Jessica Purdy, Director of Human Relations, had this to share, “While we are changing our name, we are proud to call Lititz home and remain committed to the Lititz LGBTQ+ community that has supported us and relied on us from our founding,” adding, “We have always supported the entirety of Lancaster County, the only difference is now our name reflects that broader mission.”

The organization provides mutual aid and offers services to many seeking support, offering a resource center that includes:

  • Food pantry for all community members without requiring them to be on public assistance, serving an average of 2,000 community members per month in 2024
  • Gender-affirming closet with volunteers who help support visitors
  • Library with books focused on LGBTQ+ social justice issues

Lancaster County Chooses Love also offers a variety of social and support programs to the community. A few examples include:

  • A young adult support group
  • After School Alliance, a program for teens in partnership with the Lancaster Public Library
  • Dungeons and Dragons events for teens and adults
  • Different workshops and family fun nights–like bowling, a clay workshop, and more

They have also partnered with different state and local services and have built a mutual aid program that helps community members in need to find:

  • Financial support
  • Sharing resources
  • Resources that address specific needs, like housing and healthcare costs

Through their advocacy and unwavering commitment to inclusivity, Lancaster County Chooses Love continues to shape a future based on the power of a community where every person, regardless of their identity, can thrive in an environment of acceptance and compassion.
