Lancaster County Chooses Love

Lancaster County Chooses Love improves the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals by providing direct client support, fostering connection through social and support programming, and advancing education and advocacy. Through this work, we are building a more welcoming, inclusive, and equitable Lancaster County where LGBTQ+ people are safe, affirmed, and able to thrive.

We advance our mission through three core areas:

Direct Client Support: We provide low-barrier, affirming access to essential resources that meet immediate needs and stabilize lives. This includes operating a community resource center with a food pantry, gender-affirming clothing closet, and distributing mutual aid for urgent expenses such as housing, utilities, and transportation; and offering services like name change clinics, legal support, and connecting community members to trusted, LGBTQ+-affirming providers.

Social and Support Programming: We create safe and affirming spaces where LGBTQ+ individuals, and their families and caregivers, can build connection, find support, and experience joy. Our programming includes peer support groups, youth and young adult programs, family events, adult social programs, and community-building activities designed to reduce isolation and strengthen a sense of belonging.

Education and Advocacy: We work to address the root causes of inequity through community education and systems-level advocacy. This includes training and consulting through the Inclusion Institute, partnership with schools, healthcare systems, and faith communities, and active engagement in local decision-making spaces to advocate for policies and practices that protect and affirm LGBTQ+ people.
